Favors

We decided to make our favors (FI has even helped!).  Here is what they will look like, I have 17 finished... long way to go.  But I made the favor tags myself, with a scalloped paper punch and left over paper.

Favors... In The Making

Favors, Round 2
I saw a great idea for favors on stylemepretty.com, and fell in love with them.  Not your normal favor, and something I could do to personalize the favors to our theme.  My mom & I did a test run, and they came out great, now I only have to make 400 of them...  My fiance and I did some tonight.  We have plenty of time, so we'll do a little at a time.

Flip Flop Basket

I ordered flip flops from Old Navy, and will be using these to mark the sizes of the flip flops.  I used the same paper punch from the favor tags, and extra paper.  Below is the basket (was yellow, painted it black), with the flip flops and tags.  I was only able to fit about 14 pairs in one basket, so it looks like I'll be going on a search for 1-2 more baskets.  Hopefully I'll find similar baskets to the first.

Table Runners

I originally bought black and white floral patterened table cloths for my table runners.  But then, as the polka dots started to creep into everything, I changed my mind.  I bought two polka dot fabrics from fabric.com, and had them shipped to my mom.  She will be making table runners out of them for me.  They will be alternating black w/white and white w/black.  The idea being to have alternating table cloths at the reception as well.  I found a 20% off coupon code for fabric.com and they have free shipping over $35 so the total cost of each table runner will be $2.60.  Even cheaper than the first ones I bought!

Candle Holders

Picture
I got these candle holders at the dollar store, they only had 7 of them, but I liked the shape/size so I grabbed them ages ago.  Tonight I added ribbon & our monogram, and I'll use these with candles in them on the bars.

Card Box

Picture
Originally, I bought these 3 hat boxes (below) at HomeGoods (under $30 total) because they had a black and white pattern on them and I thought I could use them as is.  As I get closer to the wedding, and finally finished my Guest Box, and have the favors in the works, I felt the pattern just wasn't working for me, so I decided to rethink the card box.

I painted the boxes in solid colors (black/white) and then did the top and bottom boxes in polka dots (on the third try I figured out the paint brush tip wasn't working but the "butt" of the paintbrush worked much much better).  The dots were a pain, I won't lie.  But I'm extremely happy with the outcome.

I have to clear coat the boxes, so the paint doesn't chip off, then put the ribbons in, and then it will be done.

The Guest Box : The Process

Picture
I saw an idea on Etsy, of a recipe box but you have guests write on note cards advice or memories and then they put it in this recipe style box.  I figured, I can make that myself!!  Granted, I am not sure it's going to end up too much cheaper, maybe $10 or the same cost, but it will definitely be personalized to my wedding.  Only 25 more letters to go...  To the left is the progression (white ceramic planter to the guest box), and below is a larger photo of the guest box with it's first letter.

Third times a charm.  So, the first attempt at the dividers was WAY to complicated, it would have taken me the next 6 months to finish, and lets face it I have more DIY stuff to do!  Second attempt was simpler, but just wasn't what I wanted.  Third times a charm :) I found a look I like, and I'm all the way to P.  Not to much further to go.  I just need to figure out how to "finish" the tabs so they are more durable (maybe acrylic spray or paint).
